For 2010, YAPA partner organization, OCA will be featuring St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley as the evenings keynote speaker.  Asian American service men and women will also be honored including YAPA’s very own Bonnie Gunter (Korean American) who served on the City of St. Louis police force.  Member pricing tickets are $40.  Please email info@yapastl.org if you are interested!

Feb 13-14, Saint Louis Science Center Lunar New Year Celebration! Main Building (south of freeway off Oakland), May Hall

Celebrate the year of the Tiger at the Saint Louis Science Center! Volunteers needed for both Saturday (10am-4pm) and Sunday (noon-4pm) to man the YAPA booth representing YAPA, playing games and facilitating activities with children and families of all ages. Come to help out or just participate in the fun! Volunteers around the lunch hour will get food compliments of Mandarin House Restaurant. The Celebration includes Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese booths, presentations and live performances on both days! Bring your own family! This is free and fun for the entire family! MARDI GRAS 2/13/2010 Soulard, St. Louis

YAPA is volunteering to be Parade Marshalls for the 2010 Mardi Gras!  Thong and Vy are going to be our YAPA team co-captains.

Please contact thong.tarm@gmail.com for all the details.  Volunteers must arrive between 8:30 and 9:30am.  Parade Marshalls stand on the “street side” of the barracades, keeping people “off” the barracades, making sure people don’t try to cross the street on the parade has started, taking beads that didn’t make it into the crowd and throwing them to people:)  Volunteers will be given special free parking with shuttle, breakfast and lunch,  volunteer only beads, special volunteer port-a-johns (very important on a day like this!), volunteer appreciation party about a month after the event which is catered and has a band or a DJ, and more!  Marshalls will have passes, badges, jackets.  Given the nature of Mardi Gras, please use your own discretion when involving children.
