Creve Coeur Lake is the place to be on Saturday, August 11th where the Asian American Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a first-time Jade sponsor of the 6th Annual Greater St. Louis Dragon Boat Festival . With live music and a kids zone, it is an event that lasts all day from 8:30am to 2:30pm. Our favorite local restaurants and friends from Mayuri Indian Restaurant, Thai Nivas, and the Guerrilla Street Food Truck are planning to be there cooking up a storm to satisfy your taste buds!
Best of all, it is FREE for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to Daniel Sakaguchi’s efforts, Armstrong Teasdale will be sponsoring our two team t-shirt designs “Making Waves” and Daniel’s favorite “Enter the Dragon.” Daniel is also in charge of organizing the practice (which is TBD but typically a week before the race) and the strategy on Race Day. We invite all of you to actively support the positive energy of our St. Louis Asian American community in 1 of 4 ways:
1. Sign up here as a Dragonboat Beginning/Experienced Paddler (nearly 3-4 minutes of paddling per qualifying round).
2. Sign up here as a pace-setting Drummer.
3. Sign up as an Arts & Games Volunteer at the Asian American Chamber of Commerce booth by clicking (or copy and pasting this URL to a new browser) http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090C4AAFAA2FA46-asian
4. Sign up as an Arts & Games Volunteer with the Signature Health Foundation by clicking (or copying and pasting this URL to a new browser): http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0544A5AE2FA75-volunteers, and notify us here so we have a way of contacting you on the event date.
Bring your friends and family members to cheer for their favorite dragonboat team!

YAPA’s next Happy Hour event will be at Little Saigon in the Central West End to benefit the South City Vietnamese Clinic. To RSVP, please reply directly to this email. We have one of St. Louis’ Asian American up-and-coming professionals from the world of editorial and commercial photography as a special surprise guest joining us for the first time. It will certainly be an engaging evening with fellow new and current YAPA members over Happy Hour drink/food specials. Of course, don’t forget to drop by YAPA’s very own Jay Yoon brothers of Chi Sushi Sake directly next door!
The clinic desperately needs new band-aids and cotton balls for their patients who are predominantly Vietnamese immigrants with limited to no medical insurance. YAPA will be collecting these items at the event. For more information, please contact Nhi Doan at nhiydoan@gmail.com if you would like to help the South City Vietnamese Clinic with a new waiting room makeover!
